This post seems to describe the problem you are having. The problem seemed to be related to webroot, an antimalware software. Are you using something similar ?

Just tried it, I am on windows 7, using MM2014 and I don't have any problem. When you mention spreadsheet, do you mean excel, or another software ? You say cannot copy... what is happening exactly ? Is it copying partially or nothing is happening ?
Yes I'm copying from an excel spreadsheet and simply paste into a mm .Dat file, I then get the following;
windows error saying 'could not get clipboard data'

There was no issues until about 4 weeks ago, this started to happen. I have not upgraded or installed any other software etc.

Thanks

Hi

I had a look into this and was not able to reproduce the issue. However I am also using windows 7. I will get someone to test it with windows 8 and see if the problem can be replicated. I am also using MM2014 so perhaps you can see if the problem continues to occur after a update to the latest version?
Hi James,

When we copy something from the clipboard to MM, we get the data in unicode format. The error message that you are getting happens when the data couldn't be converted to this format.

What you could try is to copy the spreadsheet to notepad and then try to copy that in Micromine. If you still have problem, you could send your spreadsheet to support@micromine.com and we could try to diagnose the problem better.
Hi James,

Another user encounter a similar issue recently. It seems to be the problem was caused by FireFox 31.0, they have FF open most of the time and encounter the same error message as you. When they close FF they have no issue with the copy paste. Can you tell us if this is the same for you.

Our development team will look into the true cause of the problem in more detail.
This is a similar issue in IE? Its saying there is a security settings? and its not able to access your clipboard directly?

I will try closing all browsers for this.

Will let you know

Cheers and beers
James

Good work Team!...it worked. It was the webroot software causing this. I uninstalled it and now all the functions of copying/pasting work normally......thanks and regards
